Floral Vine Scarf - first time writing a pattern

OK, this is my first time writing a pattern so bear with me, and let me know how to improve it, if it is not clear.

This is for the Floral Vine Scarf I posted just last week.

Floral Vine Lariat Scarf - My Pattern

  1. That is sooo pretty! Does it lay correctly when you have it on?

  2. I actually made it for someone else, in a craft swap on craftster, but I did try it on a couple of times before sending it out. It did lay nicely over the shoulders and around the neck.

The key is NOT to overcrowd the leaves and flowers on the vine, and to leave a bit of a stem so the leaves don't sit too stiffly on the vine.

When crocheting the vine, you are going down both sides of the beginning chain, so you can add leaves and flowers down both edges.

As well, you are connecting two vines together. So if you are thinking more is better - DON'T.

When you bring the two vines together and wrap it once or twice around your neck, too many leaves and flowers will make for what may more likely look like the winner's wreath at the Kentucky Derby than a loosely draping scarf.

I also did not leave a length for the vine, because I figure people can measure roughly for themselves what they want. I measured about the length of my two arms held apart.
