On keeping track of the thoughts in your pretty little skull...

I found this pretty skull/Day of the Dead themed fabric in my recent rounds of the Lens Mills booth at the Creativ Festival and thought it was perfect for a project I had in mind.  I wanted to make a journal cover for someone.  I found that I liked having a journal or sketchbook around because it is a great way of writing down or sketching out ideas for projects, keeping track of materials, or notes on patterns.  I thought this would be a helpful thing for another fellow crafter.

I found a nice journal with blank pages, measured out the size and cut the fabric pieces I needed to fit the journal.  I used a few patterns for journal covers on line and made some minor changes to suit my wishes, such as the ribbon tie, and adding a couple of extra pockets inside for holding things like pens/pencils, or a folded pattern.

The fit was nice and tight, and you can see the extra pockets in the red material.  I would totally make this again for myself, but maybe in a different fabric.  More rock and roll/tattoo skulls, or Asian floral maybe.
