Recipe for bombs

Nonono - these are for bath bombs.  So if you are a hooligan or some other ne'erdowell, get lost, or give this a try for a way to rest, relax, and contemplate better things to do in life.

Basic materials and recipe:

mixing bowl
spray bottle
food colour or dye
essential oil
water
sieve
measuring cups and spoons
bath bomb molds (60 ml) - I used Darice brand

2 cups baking soda
1 cup citric acid
1 cup cornstarch
1/2 - 1 cup epsom salts/sea salts (I went closer to 1 cup or more for more glitter)
1/4 cup sweet almond oil (or any other oil in liquid form)

In a spray bottle, combine a small amount water, with essential oil and dye.  Very little water is used in the mix, so if you want a deep or vibrant colour, use a strong amount colouring.  Scent to your personal liking.  Set aside.  I found about a 1/4 cup of liquid was more than enough for 1 recipe.

In the bowl, combine the dry ingredients.  It's not an exact science, I did not measure exactly.  Use the sieve or your hands to break up any lumps.  Combine well.  Add the oil, and combine with hands well, rubbing mixture well to break up lumps.  When the mixture is well combined, take the spray bottle and spritz a small amount of the liquid in throughout surface, while combining quickly and thoroughly with the other hand.  Keep spritzing and combining, until the mixture starts to feel cool and damp, and starts to hold together when a clump is squeezed firmly in your hand.  Do not put too much liquid in, or the mixture will start to fizz too much and will be lost.

Either hand form the bombs, pressing the mixture firmly together into a ball, or use a mold.  Lightly pack both halves, and press together firmly, without twisting.  If the mixture is right, I found that you can unmold right away.  Set gently aside and allow to dry for a day or two.  It will become quite firm when dry.

I have been told that a couple of tbsp of orris root powder added to the mixture helps to extend the life of the scent.

Warning, if you have any cuts or sores on your hands, wear gloves, because touching the concentrated citric acid will sting!

Also, if there is a fail and the mix does not come together to form a bomb successfully, maybe because too much liquid was added, and you can't save it, just spread it out to dry a bit, add some more epsom salts, and package it up in some pretty containers and call it a bath salt.  No waste!
